Pick It Up Tidy Up Award
Each week the cleaning staff give an award to the tidiest classroom. The winning class then keeps the Pick It Up Tidy Up trophy for the following week. The award has already proved to be a great success, with children around school taking great pride in looking after their learning environment.

Merit Awards

Every Friday we have our special mentions assemblies. Children may be awarded a special  certificate and sticker for their achievements. This may be for working with continuous effort, making significant progress, or also for demonstrating positive behaviour and attitudes in school.

School Attendance Matters Award

Orchard Head School was awarded a  certificate and soft toy "Sam" in recognition of our excellent attendance over three years. Sam is now awarded on a weekly basis to the class with the highest attendance.

Maths Roadshow

Each year we send a team of four Year 6 children to Kings High school to participate in a maths roadshow. We have had great success with this and we  won the roadshow in 2007 & 2008 and came a respectable 2nd place in 2009!

Primary Framework

At Orchard Head School we have recently integrated into the curriculum the new Primary Framework for Literacy and Mathematics. The new framework has replaced the National Strategies and is specifically designed to support schools to deliver high quality learning and teaching for all pupils.

Mathematics

Arts Week

Arts Week took place the week beginning 7th July. This year we welcomed Mr Roop Singh, who lead a dramatic telling of the Mango Tree Story. All children in school were involved in a variety of activities throughout the week, including drama, art & design, music and dance. Each activity helped the children to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of Sikhism, in a wider context.
